Wed, 8 March 2006 ![]() Okay, I'm slow, but I just realized that this Sunday is our six month anniversary as a church. It's the same Sunday we go to two services. It's almost like we planned that or something! God is so good! Here's several things you need to know: 1. This Sunday. Two services; 8:30 and 10:30. Now we have room to invite our friends and neighbors who don't go to church! Both services will be the same. Pick one and bring a friend. 2. This week we begin a new series called "Godspeak". We will discover how we encounter and hear from God. 3. Several have asked about future building plans for Grace and whether there is a building fund for the church. The answer is yes! We are setting aside money that comes in over and above our budget for whatever purposes God has planned for us. The day may come soon when the church will need to be prepared to make offers on land purchases. It is not too early to be giving. 4. If you intended to be in a small group, but missed the sign ups, email Ron at ron@gcomchurch.com. We have a few open spaces in existing groups. These groups meet on Sunday evenings. 5. Check out the new church Myspace at www.myspace.com/gcomchurch. This is just another way to reach people. You can continue to follow the activities of Grace at the website www.gcomchurch.com. 6. You are a huge part of a the miracle of Grace! Thanks! Grace to you! Ron To leave or view comments about this post please click on "Comments" to your right. Thu, 16 February 2006 ![]() Graced Friends: Winters in Tennessee. Nothing like them. Snow on Friday. Sixty degrees on Tuesday. Coats on Sunday. Shorts on Thursday. Sounds a lot like relationships. Unpredictable! Gather with us this Sunday for a closer look into the struggles of parent-child relationships. On a more serious note, this week we grieve with Rick Hurst as he mourns the passing of his mother. Rick shared with me how his mother spent her final moments. Get this. As he sensed the time approaching, Rick picked up his guitar and sat at his mother's bedside. He sang and played her favorite hymns, all of which were about heaven, until she was at last in the presence of the Lord. We should all be so blessed as to have our children sit at our bedside and play background music as we journey to Jesus. Rick, we hurt with you. We rejoice with you. And we are all thankful to have you in our lives. See you Sunday. To leave or view comments about this post please click on "Comments" to your right. Thu, 12 January 2006 ![]() Magazine Review Love Like Rain Daniel Doss Band The first thing you are going to ask when you hear Love Like Rain is "where has this guy been hiding?" The Daniel Doss Band plays music that gets your heart beating with praise and awe of the Father and that's something that this world needs. It's Christian music that should be played at full volume to match the dimensions of worship that it pulls from your heart. If you want a sample, grab a copy of Song DISCovery 52, which includes the poetic and hymn-like title track "Love Like Rain" and then volume 54 with the overwhelming song of honor, "Light is Shining". The highlight of the Daniel Doss Band is that they pay little attention to sounding like anyone else; their focus seems to be in creating heart songs that ring out like they belong in the heavens. It's an artistic stance that respects the vast personality of God, yet makes it musically accessible for believers. Now's the time to start following Daniel Doss, he's sure to keep offering praises for years to come, and you won't want to miss a beat of it. Worship Leader TAKEAWAY: The Daniel Doss band is one of the most exciting worship finds of the year, and a must have for worship professionals. Sun, 8 January 2006 Please pray for Dr. David Haase and his family. David is a fine Christian friend to many at Grace and supporter of our church. We have just learned that his older sister's husband was tragically killed in a car accident today. His sister and brother in law have been the inspiration in many ways for his life. Fri, 6 January 2006 Exciting news! Daniel's song "Love Like Rain" won songwriter division of the Embassy Music talent search competition. He won the Nashville Regional division in May 2005 and then the National Final January 4th, 2006. As a result EMI is going to pitch the song to its artists so one of them might record it.
Some of you voted for him on the SongDiscovery web site. That is a different nomination that he has been nominated for and we won't know the results from that until March 2006. If you haven't voted you can go to: SongDiscovery. To leave or view comments about this post please click on "Comments" to your right. Category: Pastor's Blog -- posted at: 8:19 PM Comments[12] |
